Houston RN-Supervised In-Home Dementia Care With Flexible Scheduling Announced

Encore Caregivers has expanded access to its in-home dementia care program for Houston families, pairing trained caregiver support with RN oversight and scheduling options that range from part-time visits to full-time live-in arrangements. The agency says the model is designed to reduce caregiver burden while allowing individuals with dementia to remain in familiar surroundings.

According to the 2024 Texas Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Caregiver Survey, 99.7 percent of caregivers for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias report experiencing some level of emotional stress, with more than two-thirds describing it as very or extremely stressful. The same survey found that Texas dementia caregivers provide an average of 67.5 hours of care weekly — a level of responsibility that can contribute to exhaustion, isolation, and declining health among family caregivers over time.

Encore Caregivers notes that dementia care typically extends well beyond companionship. Families often need structured support across daily routines, mobility assistance, medication reminders, and behavioral monitoring, with needs that tend to grow as memory-related conditions advance.

"Many families begin by helping occasionally, then gradually find themselves managing full-time caregiving responsibilities," an Encore Caregivers spokesperson said. "The structure and consistency required for dementia care can become difficult to maintain without additional support."

Its in-home dementia care ranges from short-term respite visits to long-term and 24-hour live-in care, depending on each client's condition and daily needs, with care plans developed to support independence while helping to reduce disruption to familiar routines.

All caregivers are trained, background-checked, insured, and supervised by a registered nurse responsible for oversight, caregiver guidance, and ongoing evaluations. "Our nurse-supervised structure allows families to have an additional level of accountability and continuity throughout the caregiving process," the spokesperson added.

Beyond direct care services, Encore Caregivers also publishes educational resources for families navigating dementia-related decisions. The agency recently released a guide covering what dementia care involves, including caregiver responsibilities, daily routines, warning signs, and the role of RN-supervised support inside the home.

Encore Caregivers is a multi-generational family-owned home care agency serving Houston since 2009, currently employing more than 130 caregivers and providing over 4,000 hours of care weekly throughout the area.
