MunchEye has announced the upcoming launch of Jikan Nazo, an Amazon KDP puzzle book creation app and software platform from Ike Paz, scheduled for September 23, 2026. The launch arrives as self-publishing continues to give independent creators access to the print book market. Bowker reported that the number of self-published titles with ISBNs exceeded 2.6 million in 2023, an increase of 7.2% from the previous year, illustrating the volume of titles competing for readers' attention.
Jikan Nazo focuses specifically on the puzzle-building process. Its elimination format requires every clue to progressively narrow the available numbers until exactly one solution remains, and the software is designed to verify generated puzzles against that single-solution requirement before they are included in a book.
The platform generates more than the puzzles themselves. Rules pages, clue lists, number registers, front and back matter, and coded answer keys can be assembled as part of the finished interior, reducing the amount of manual formatting required after the puzzles have been created.
Publishers can also choose between Gentle, Standard, and Fiendish difficulty settings. This allows different books or sections to be created around varying levels of complexity without requiring each individual puzzle and its elimination sequence to be constructed manually.
Jikan Nazo incorporates formatting features for Amazon KDP print publishing, including controls for trim size, margins, gutters, bleed and mirrored margins. A pre-flight function is designed to check the completed book for potential formatting issues before export, while an 18-point large-print option provides another format for publishers developing puzzle books for readers who prefer larger text.
The software supports high-resolution PNG output as well as print-ready PDF exports, allowing completed material to be prepared for Amazon KDP or adapted for other printable formats. Optional upgrades extend the core number-puzzle system with additional register types, languages, story-based elements, and alternative mystery formats.
