Independent dance studios face ongoing challenges, often without access to peer support structures. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 20% of small businesses fail in their first year, with the rate rising to nearly 50% by year five. SCORE research further indicates that owners with access to mentors and peer networks are more likely to achieve long-term success. For studio owners juggling instruction, administration, and business management, limited professional connections can increase operational strain.
The 2026 Conference and Expo addresses this directly, with more than 140 sessions spanning movement classes, business strategy, and personal development. Registered attendees gain access to Dance Teacher University, developed in partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, which offers a certification pathway beyond the four-day event. They also receive six months of digital access to all session recordings via the DTW platform and event app.
The team notes that the expo hall will feature approximately 80 exhibitors, including leading manufacturers and service providers. Sponsors and community partners will also support studio owners beyond the event, throughout the season. Last year’s Expo Finale awarded over $21,000 in prizes, with daily hospitality and themed events also planned for 2026.
