According to Mordor Intelligence, battery-powered chainsaws represent the fastest-growing segment of the chainsaw market, projected to advance at a 4.7% compound annual rate through 2031, as emission regulations and purchase incentive programs continue to shift buyers away from gas-powered equipment. Rapco Industries designed the new Terminator configuration to address this shift, extending a chain already relied on for high-impact conditions to cordless platforms.
The Terminator chain is built by combining two chain cutters with silver soldering to attach a solid carbide chip to the cutting face, which is then reshaped for maximum impact resistance. According to a Rapco Industries representative, the chain features dual-depth gauge protection designed for high-impact use and stays sharp up to 25 times longer than standard steel chainsaw chains. Sharpening requires a diamond grinding stone to maintain cutting performance under demanding conditions.
The chain requires a 50-gauge bar and suits lighter-duty roof ventilation and demolition work. Battery-operated saws running it are safer indoors, eliminating carbon monoxide fumes, and offer greater maneuverability with a smaller, lighter, quieter design than gas-powered saws.
The Terminator chain has historically been offered in .404-inch and 3/8-inch (.375-inch), .063-inch gauge configurations and has served firefighters for more than 30 years. The Rapco Industries representative notes that the new low-profile, .050-inch gauge configuration extends that same design to battery-operated equipment, including smaller rigs such as squads, brush trucks, and medic units alongside larger apparatus.
