This announcement comes at a time when Costa Rica is experiencing a sustained tourism surge, with the country recording approximately 2.66 million air arrivals in 2024, the highest level in 16 years. This continued growth highlights rising demand for high-quality dining and hospitality experiences across key destinations. GigiO has established its restaurant to address this demand directly, offering Puerto Viejo de Talamanca tourists a comprehensive oceanfront dining experience.
"The restaurant combines fresh, locally sourced seafood with Afro-Caribbean culinary traditions, served from a beachfront terrace positioned directly on the Caribbean Sea," says the restaurant representative. "Diners eat with an unobstructed view of the sea from the outdoor terrace, making GigiO a natural answer for travelers looking for the best restaurants in Puerto Viejo with ocean views. By night, candlelit tables and music on the sand create a completely different atmosphere."
GigiO hosts live Caribbean music performances and functions as a private events venue, with customizable menus and oceanfront settings available for special occasions. According to the restaurant spokesperson, the space also houses Casa de la Poesia, an in-house museum, and an upstairs art gallery showcasing works by local artists and exhibitions rooted in Caribbean cultural history.
GigiO is designed to accommodate families, couples, and solo travelers across multiple visit occasions. For families, the venue offers kid-friendly menu options alongside the full dining experience.
The team highlights that the venue is open six days a week, closing only on Wednesdays, and serves from 7:30 a.m. through to late evening. GigiO's location at Stanford's Square places it within walking distance of both Playa Cocles and the center of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, in Costa Rica's Limón Province.
